Which Poem Did Santa's Reindeer Come From?

Many people haven't heard of it but its influence has been worldwide!

It's the poem that made Santa's reindeer famous: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

"...a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

Students are always fascinated to learn about the origins of Christmas traditions, and this poem is fun
to read  (you can access the whole poem here).

Thank you for supporting this blog, which I launched in the summer of 2024. It has had nearly 4000
views since then and I hope it is helping students and families with their English studies.

With best wishes for the Christmas holidays,
Michael
