Escape from the Island - another student story...

This is another post showcasing the writing talents of my students, and is by Aahil...

He could smell a burning scent at the back of the plane and then heard a loud bang behind a toilet door but before long the plane was airborne. He thought maybe that he was hallucinating so he asked a stewardess for some water but as soon as he asked, harsh unexpected turbulence hit. Anyone standing was slammed onto the top of the cabin. Crash! The stewardess was propelled down the aisle.

Boom! The airplane plunged into the azure, blue ocean. He felt like he was a condemned man on his route to the electric chair .  Alfred grabbed his lifejacket and jumped out of exit  row door .He lept into the deep, volume of water. It felt like a thousand knives stabbing into you, as he jumped straight into the left side of the wing. Slowly but steadily his pain started to ease although  still there was an ache in his hip.  In the distance, he saw a small fragment of land ,so he tore a piece of the fuselage and gently floated on it towards the island.

Alfred heard a roar, a roar loud enough to shatter your eardrums. He still gently sculled towards the island knowing that it was the only safe thing around. He felt a sensation of loneliness despite this he was still determined.

Alfred arrived at the island. Once Alfred reached the island, the soft sand on the beach touched his torn, tattered skin .The roar was heard again but not only by him. He saw a fleet of arrows just off the edge of the beach flying towards the direction of the sound.

Where did the arrows come from? What made that sound?

He started to try and find other survivors. There were none. He thought to himself about his life, it was like it was flashing right before his eyes and he wondered “Is this really my destiny?” Tear drops started to trail down his eyes.

Alfred heard a noise like people treading on sticks with the result of them snapping. He quickly hesitated and jumped into a nearby bush. He felt like he was doomed ,like there wasn’t even a point of trying to hide and that he should give up living. He jumped out of the bush…

Alfred started to run. He ran deep into the jungle as he knew whatever made that noise might not be able to find him. He found a place to hide. An old cave with ancient markings over the walls. He moved a colossal rock onto a platforms he could see through a small nook. The noise was getting closer. Alfred felt he was condemned but he kept his head focussed and eventually the sound weakened.

Alfred felt a sense of glory and destiny almost like he would embrace the feeling of death. A fat hog was running away from something, something big, something colossal, something gargantuan. Roar! Whatever that sound was it was coming Alfred’s way.

He started to run : run with haste, speed and an overwhelming fear of death. He felt worried : a fear of death, that felt quite close to him ; and the fear of knowing what that animal could really do.

Alfred stumbled across a cave that looked perfect as a hiding place. Without any hesitation he ran into the cave : he thought that it was a perfect spot for hiding for such a seemingly long creature. He had remembered a promise he made his mum to always stay with his dad; he had remembered a promise that he made his dad to not be in sorrow about leaving him.

Still Alfred carried on running ;he knew the trouble he’d be in if he surrendered ;still without any hesitation he carried on sprinting away from the noise.Suddenly, flaming arrows started firing in all directions and Alfred had nowhere to run so he raised his hands with absolutely no faith.

A person with three lanky scars and a spear ambled towards him .He then saw approximately twenty tribesmen appear out of multiple bushes ,each wearing a skirt made of dried leaves and a tall hat with old engravings and scriptures in a foreign language on a large stone slab.

But then he remembered that his phone was still in his pocket so he offered it to the tribesmen in return for something else. In return, they gave him a fishing boat, they spared his life and the name that sounded to him a lot like a witch.

He dropped down to the floor and cried, “Yes, I can finally get off this rock!”

He then yanked the boat out towards the ocean but then he looked back at the island one more time and thought ,this is my destiny : he only wanted to be in a place where he knew he belonged ,not just stuck in the midst of society but in somewhere he knew that would never leave his side ,like his family which left his side to send him to the boarding school, but still hesitantly pushed the boat into the sea.
