Testimonials

"Working with Michael was incredibly helpful. He not only supported me with improving

grammar and clarity in my writing, but also helped me think more critically about how to present my ideas. His advice was thoughtful and clear, encouraging me to reflect more deeply on my motivations, strengths, and future direction.

This time, the support went beyond language and grammar. He offered insightful feedback on how to communicate ideas clearly to a business-oriented audience and encouraged me to explore more realistic marketing and financial strategies.

He also helped me consider different perspectives on consumer behaviour and market positioning.  Michael always took the time to understand the context of my project. He would ask meaningful questions that helped me evaluate my thinking, and he always made sure that the voice of the writing still felt like mine. What impressed me most was that his feedback was not only technical but also thoughtful—he respected the creative vision I had for my project, while guiding me toward stronger academic and professional expression.

Thanks to this collaboration, I felt more confident in both my writing and my ideas. I learned how to edit my work with greater precision and how to tailor my communication to different

audiences—skills that will be essential as I continue my academic journey and enter the fashion industry."

“Dear Michael, ****** passed English literature with A* … Thank you for your help!”

(A Level English Literature student recommended to Michael by an international agent; achieved B in her mock exam; following tutoring with Michael, she achieved an A* and her  Cambridge place in the final A Level exams)

"My son finished year 10 at school and asked if he could have some English tutoring over the summer to help him learn techniques that would enable him to get extra marks in his upcoming GCSE exams (summer 2025). He has been predicted a 7 or 8 but wants to push himself to try and obtain a 9. The motivation for tutoring all came from him rather than us as his parents so we knew he would invest in the experience.   Michael has already had a huge impact after only 6 weeks of lessons. Michael is a subject matter expert and clearly loves teaching. This enthusiasm and energy is very apparent in his teaching style which has enabled him to build credibility and rapport with my son very quickly. He looks forward to his weekly lessons and is enjoying putting the learnings into practice back at school this term. I would have no hesitation recommending Michael to others and feel very lucky to have found him!”

Our daughter was struggling with English Literature A Level, it is a big jump from GCSE.  She was disappointed with the grades she was getting. Michael has provided our daughter with great knowledge and often says their sessions were brilliant and Michael really knows his stuff.  The tutoring sessions have given her so much confidence.”

"Our daughter was struggling with her confidence in English. She was particularly finding Shakespearean texts challenging.  To set her on the right track for her GCSE studies, we wanted to find a tutor that would encourage her to believe in herself and show her that she was capable, that she could enjoy the subject and who would demystify the great Bard! We also knew that she would benefit from that one-to-one contact , enabling her to really concentrate. We also hoped that a tutor could work with her to  identify areas where she need extra attention and guidance. Michael was recommended to us, and we were super impressed with his qualifications, and engaging website.  Michael has proved the best English teacher. He is thoroughly engaging, and I know she looks forward to her weekly lesson. It is great to hear them laughing! She is not a great reader, but Michael has encouraged her, and also helped improve her understanding of language and context generally. Michael is patient, but also looks to challenge her during the lesson, as well as setting her tasks to complete after the lesson. In terms of Shakespeare, the role-play has proved particularly helpful and even fun. Words that she thought mere ‘gobbledygook’ and ‘foreign’ are now poignant and help with wider understanding to make sense of the entire narrative.  Within weeks of starting tutoring, we had booked to see the play she was studying at the theatre, and she came back delighted that the words on the page came alive. Michael has made English a subject she now enjoys, and has confidence in."

“I felt that my daughter needed 1-2-1 support to find out how she could improve her grades  with both GCSE language and Literature. She is aiming for the top grades. You stood out as you specialise in helping your students to achieve the tops grades. My daughter says that you explain the work very well. You also respond promptly to my questions and queries.”
